Quick Start Guide to Golfify
James here from Golfify! Thanks for checking out Golfify. In this guide, I'll give you a quick introduction to the app, explaining how you can use it to create and manage golf tournaments with ease.
What is Golfify?
Golfify is a mobile and web app that allows you to create and manage golf competitions from start to finish. It helps reduce the administrative work for event hosts while enhancing the experience for players through live leaderboards and real-time statistics as the competition progresses.
Creating a Golf Competition
To get started with Golfify:
- Sign in or Create an Account.
- You'll land on the Golfify Home Screen. To create your first event, tap the + button in the bottom right corner.
- Choose between a Single Round Event or a Multi-Round Event.
- • A Multi-Round Event allows you to combine rounds into an overall leaderboard.
- • A Single Round Event is ideal for beginners to quickly see how Golfify works.
For this example, let's set up a Single Round Event.
Setting Up Your Event
- Choose Event Type: You can create your event using:
- • Custom Options: Set everything yourself.
- • Shortcut Templates: Preconfigured event types for quick setup.
- • Previous Events: Copy and duplicate settings from an event you've already created.
In this example, we'll create an Individual Stableford event.
- Customize Event Details:
- • Event Name: Give your competition a custom name.
- • Start Date and Time: Set the date and time for the event.
- • Number of Players: Enter the total number of players. Golfify is free for events with 8 players or fewer, with all features unlocked. Pricing increases for larger events.
- Select a Course: Choose your facility from the available list. If the course isn't listed, contact us and we'll add it quickly.
- Create the Event: Tap Create to finish setting up your event.
Adding Players to Your Event
Now that your event is set up, let's add players:
- Add Players:
- • Tap the Add Player button (player + sign) or go to Settings > Player Manager.
- • There are two ways to add players:
-
- Direct Add: Add players manually using their name and email. This guarantees the player is added directly to the event.
-
- Invite Players: Send email invitations, allowing players to join the event by responding via email or the app.
- Buddy System & Recents:
- • If you've interacted with players before on Golfify, you can quickly add them from your Buddies or Recent Players list.
- Bulk Add Players: For larger events, you can upload a spreadsheet to add multiple players at once.
Setting Up the Tee Sheet and Pairings
Once your players are added, it's time to set up the Tee Sheet:
- Assign Players to Tee Slots:
- • Go to the Tee Sheet tab, and assign players to specific tee slots.
- • You can assign players one by one by tapping a slot and selecting a player.
- Auto Assign:
- • Use the Auto Assign feature to randomly assign unassigned players to available tee slots. This is useful for larger events with many players.
Activating Your Event and Scoring
Once your event is set up:
- Activate the Event:
- • Go to the event homepage and activate it, which allows players to start scoring and view the scorecard.
- • Players who have been added to the event with an email will see the event on their Home Screen in the app. They just need to tap the event and find their Grouping Information.
- Start Scoring:
- • Players can begin entering scores into the scorecard. Not all players need to use the app—only one player per group needs to enter scores for the whole group.
- • The score entry is quick and doesn't disrupt the flow of the game.
Real-Time Leaderboard and Stats
Golfify provides live leaderboards and stats as players score:
- View Leaderboard:
- • Swipe across the Scorecard to access the Leaderboard, which updates in real-time.
- • You can view detailed information for each player and check their progress throughout the round.
- Check Stats:
- • On the leaderboard page, swipe to the right to see Event Statistics, which become more detailed as more holes are played.
- Real-Time Chat:
- • The leaderboard also includes a Chat Feature, allowing players to communicate with each other during the event. You can turn this feature on or off depending on the event type.
Additional Features
Golfify offers a range of additional features to enhance your events:
- • Long Drive and Closest to the Pin contests can be added to your leaderboard.
- • Group Competitions: Organize team-based competitions like Ryder Cup-style games or create subgroups within larger events.
Conclusion
That's a quick overview of how to use Golfify to create and manage golf events! There's so much more to explore in the app, from advanced scoring options to custom event formats. I encourage you to download Golfify, try it out, and see how it can make your golf events more exciting and efficient.
